Job summary

Piper Aircraft, Inc. is seeking a Tool Designer for full-time work in manufacturing. You will create and modify tool designs using NX CAD, collaborate with Tooling and Manufacturing Engineering teams, and ensure drawings and approvals meet schedule milestones.

The role requires 5–7 years of tooling design experience in aerospace, NX10+, CAD, Unigraphics II, and strong Microsoft Office skills. Occasional travel and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience: A Bachelors Degree in Engineering is preferred.
• Five to seven years design experience with aircraft tooling is preferred.
• NX10 or above, Computer Aided Drafting (CAD), Unigraphics II, and Microsoft Office computer program literacy required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
• Knowledge of tooling and basic machine shop practices.

Responsibilities

• Generate technical drawings and concepts for new and existing tools. (NX Required)
• Design and develop new tools. (NX Required)
• Check for design continuity and conformance to standards.
• Act as liaison between Tooling and Manufacturing Engineering departments.
• Research world class tooling practices for possible improvements.
• Prepare/update reports on status of current projects.
• Interface with external designers and tooling vendors.
• Prepare and follow up on miscellaneous projects and reports.
• Perform other related duties as required.
