Job summary

RTX in Carlsbad, CA seeks a Tooling Design Engineer to support the maturation of tooling for Ceramic Matrix Composite turbine components. You will design and refine fixtures, create CAD models, and work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to meet stringent aerospace requirements.

Responsibilities include tool testing, validation, and continuous improvement, with emphasis on safety, quality, and process optimization. Onsite role with collaboration across functions and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with CAD and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and refine tools and fixtures for manufacturing and engineering processes.
• Create and update 3D models, technical drawings, and documentation using CAD software.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to ensure tools meet requirements and are optimized for production.
• Support testing, validation, and troubleshooting of tools to ensure performance and quality standards.
• Assist in continuous improvement of tool design processes to reduce lead times.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and engineering best practices.
• Research and evaluate new tooling suppliers and support purchasing.
• Train engineers and technicians on proper use of tooling.
• Explore and implement new technologies to align with business goals.
