Job summary

Cuhaci & Peterson Architects, Engineers & Planners, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a senior Mechanical Engineer with PE licensure to perform engineering calculations and design systems per applicable codes and standards. You will lead design teams, mentor staff, and ensure projects meet scope, schedule and budget requirements.

The role requires a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, 8+ years of experience, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with PE license required.
• 8+ years of work experience in mechanical engineering.
• Ability to supervise and mentor other engineers/designers.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations and design systems per policies and codes with minimal supervision.
• Apply practical knowledge to resolve project-related problems and conflicts.
• Make independent engineering decisions for assigned tasks.
• Supervise subordinate personnel or assist other engineers or designers.
• Comply with discipline-specific and building codes.
• Communicate clearly in written and verbal form.
• Educate clients on design scope and requirements.
• Meet with Project Engineer/PM to discuss design scope, schedule, and budget.
• Help prepare design budgets and schedules with Project Manager/Engineer.
• Estimate discipline man-hours for design requirements.
• Provide leadership and assign design tasks to designers.
• Implement system types as selected by Project Engineer and produce construction documents.
• Review preliminary/final engineering designs with other disciplines for coordination.
• Conduct final review of engineering drawings.
• Client contact.
• Quality assurance in coordination with technical manager or PE.
• Mentor and motivate engineers I-III.
• Meet fast-paced deadlines while maintaining quality.
