Job summary

Cuhaci & Peterson Architects, Engineers & Planners, Inc. seeks an experienced engineer to perform calculations and lay out and design systems per policy and codes. You will exercise independent judgment with minimal supervision and supervise other engineers or designers as needed.

The role requires a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, PE license, and 8+ years of relevant experience, with strong communication skills and client education capabilities.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, PE license, and 8+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations and layout/design systems per policies, standards, codes; exercise judgment with minimal supervision.
• Apply practical knowledge to resolve project conflicts and challenges.
• Independently make engineering task decisions for assigned projects.
• Mentor and supervise subordinate engineers or designers when needed.
• Understand discipline-specific codes and building codes.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Educate clients on design and project requirements.
• Meet with Project Engineer and Project Manager to discuss scope, schedule, budget and design review issues.
• Prepare design budgets and schedules with project team.
• Estimate discipline man-hours required to complete design tasks.
