Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead design, analysis, and troubleshooting of heavy industrial rotary equipment from concept to startup. You will guide designers and field technicians, ensuring equipment performance and project success.

The role requires hands-on mechanical design expertise, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects with travel 30%–50% to customer sites. This is a contract-to-hire position based in Louisville, KY.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Several years of mechanical engineering experience in heavy industrial equipment/rotating machinery.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD 3D and other 3D CAD software.
• Experience leading designers/technicians in a project environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design, analysis, and improvement projects.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Provide technical leadership to designers and field service technicians.
• Develop and review 3D models and drawings using CAD software.
• Support field inspections, installations, and commissioning at customer sites.
• Communicate findings and project status to customers and teams.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, fabrication, and sales for project success.
• Travel 30%–50% to customer sites for inspections and installations.
