Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Mechanical/Fluid Engineer to design and test piping systems for cryogenic and high‑pressure applications. You will lead piping layout, stress analysis, and system components while coordinating with suppliers and customers to shape project scope.

Qualifications include a B.S. in Mechanical/Chemical/Aerospace Engineering and 5+ years of piping experience. The role requires occasional travel and a commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years (Level III), 2+ years (Level II) of industry experience
• Demonstrated expertise in piping system design and analysis
• Competency with Bentley AutoPipe and/or CAESAR
• Demonstrated expertise in pipe support selection, design, and analysis
• Practical knowledge of installation and fabrication methods for piping systems (stock, fittings, connections, welding)
• Knowledgeable of fluid system components (valves, regulators, pumps)
• Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and ASME BPVC codes
• Ability to earn trust and contribute to a culture of inclusion

Responsibilities

• Define piping system layouts, routing and support locations.
• Perform stress analysis on piping and tubing systems.
• Define and specify pipe support components (anchors, guides, spring hangers).
• Design and analyze structural supports.
• Lead and own the design of high-pressure gas and cryogenic fluid systems.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analysis activities for fluid systems (HAZOP).
• Manage suppliers, coordinating cost, schedule, and technical design requirements.
• Provide remote and on-site support during fabrication, installation, and startup of facilities.
• Coordinate with customers to refine project scope and requirements.
• Mentor newer engineers and perform peer reviews as appropriate.
