Job summary

Blue Origin in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Mechanical/Fluid Engineer to design, analyze, and test piping systems for spaceflight hardware. The role focuses on high-pressure gas and cryogenic fluid systems within test facilities, requiring collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams to deliver safe, reliable systems.

You will lead piping layouts, perform stress analysis, specify supports, and mentor peers while supporting build and startup of new facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years (Level III), 2+ years (Level II) of industry experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in piping system design and analysis.
• Competency with Bentley AutoPipe and/or CAESAR.
• Proven expertise in pipe support selection, design and analysis.
• Knowledgeable of fluid system components and installation methods.

Responsibilities

• Define piping system layouts (routing, support locations).
• Perform stress analysis on piping and tubing systems.
• Define and specify pipe supports (anchors, guides, spring hangers).
• Design and analyze structural supports.
• Lead and own the design of high-pressure gas and cryogenic fluid systems.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analysis activities for fluid systems (HAZOP).
• Manage suppliers, coordinating cost, schedule, and technical design requirements.
• Provide remote and on-site support during fabrication, installation, and start-up.
• Coordinate with customers to refine project scope and requirements.
• Mentor newer engineers and perform peer reviews as appropriate.
