Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of pressure vessels, piping systems, and mechanical components for spaceflight propulsion ecosystems. You will serve as the technical authority on code compliance and work across multiple programs to ensure safe, reliable equipment.

The role requires extensive experience with ASME codes, stress analysis, and manufacturing considerations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of mechanical design experience with ASME code-compliant equipment.
• Proficiency in GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Experience with pressure-containing equipment calculations.
• Strong CAD skills in SolidWorks/NX/CATIA or similar.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of pressure vessels and piping systems while ensuring code compliance.
• Develop specifications, design criteria, and drawings.
• Review vendor submissions for code compliance and provide guidance to teams.
• Mentor junior engineers on code application and compliance practices.
