Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team in Albuquerque seeks a Mechanical Engineer to contribute on smaller projects and support larger efforts under a Senior Engineer or Project Manager.

You will assist in evaluating, selecting, and engineering HVAC building systems, perform Revit modeling, prepare design drawings, calculations, field surveys, and contribute to construction administration.

Collaborate with design colleagues, mentor junior staff, and ensure codes and internal standards across multiple projects.

Qualifications

  • HVAC systems design and engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with BIM/Revit for 3D modeling and documentation.
  • Ability to participate in multi-disciplinary design teams.

Your Opportunity

Our Buildings team is looking for a Mechanical Engineer. You will work on smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer or Project Manager. You will assist in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) building systems for projects verifying compliance with applicable codes and internal engineering standards / practices. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include Revit modeling, preparing design drawings, performing system calculations, ductwork design, piping design, specifying equipment, field survey work, and construction administration.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Work with a team of design colleagues to conceptualize and develop full documentation for new construction and renovation projects for multiple types of facilities such as advanced technologies, industrial, healthcare, mission critical, higher education, research laboratories or similar applications.
  • Engage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies in development of three-dimensional models of building’s mechanical systems.
  • Prepare and revise documentation in various mechanical phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Participate in client contact on projects to establish design criteria, review design progress as well as providing support through construction administration.
  • Support the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.
  • Work on multiple projects.
  • Conduct field surveys of existing conditions of building spaces.
  • Prepare field reports and punch lists.
  • Provide mentoring to junior staff.
