Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design and develop ground mechanical systems for our launch site at Cape Canaveral, FL. You will lead subsystems, perform FEA, and manage external partners through fabrication, assembly, and activation of ground support equipment for New Glenn programs.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 7+ years in large mechanical systems, CAD/FEA proficiency, and GD&T knowledge, with a US citizenship or lawful status required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 7+ years of experience in design/analysis of large mechanical systems.
• Experience leading mechanical designs from concept through commissioning.
• CAD experience for mechanical design.
• FEA experience for complex systems.
• Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Experience with heavy-duty mechanisms and load-bearing joints.

Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts for assigned subsystems and resolve technical challenges.
• Own and deliver mechanical design solutions for large mechanical systems and mechanisms.
• Independently perform and review FEA and hand-calculation analyses.
• Manage external design and fabrication partners through project lifecycle and oversee fabrication, assembly, testing, and activation.
