Job summary

Blue Origin in Cape Canaveral, FL, is seeking a senior mechanical design engineer to lead large ground-system projects for New Glenn. You will design, analyze, and qualify mechanisms and support equipment, coordinating with fabrication and testing teams across facilities.

The role requires 10+ years of mechanical design experience, CAD/FEA proficiency, GD&T expertise, and a proven track record from concept through commissioning on complex systems; US citizenship or permanent residency is

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years designing and analyzing large, complex mechanical systems.
• Experience leading mechanical design from concept to commissioning.
• Proficiency with CAD tools.
• Experience with FEA tools and structural analysis.
• ASME Y14.5 GD&T proficiency and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Experience in heavy duty mechanism design and load-bearing joints.
• Experience evaluating dynamic loading, vibration, and fatigue.
• Experience designing bolted and welded connections and interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for major mechanical systems and mentor staff.
• Define and drive mechanical design solutions for large systems.
• Lead, perform, and review FEA and hand-calcs for complex systems.
• Manage external design and fabrication partners through full lifecycle.
