Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking experienced engineers to design and develop ground mechanical systems and GSE for New Glenn launch operations at Cape Canaveral, FL. You will lead subsystems, perform FEA and hand-calcs, and oversee fabrication, assembly, testing, and activation for large, precision mechanisms.

Minimum 7+ years in mechanical design and analysis with CAD/FEA experience; require US citizenship or eligible status. Relocation is provided for suitable candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
• 7+ years of experience designing large, complex mechanical systems (launch vehicle GSE, aerospace tooling).
• Experience leading mechanical designs from concept through commissioning.
• CAD-based mechanical design experience.
• FEA experience in mechanical analysis.
• familiarity with GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack-up analyses.
• Experience with bolts, interfaces, and load-bearing joints in precision assemblies.
• Experience assessing mechanical systems under dynamic loads (vibration, shock, fatigue).
• US citizenship or eligible status required (per relocation and security rules).

Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts for assigned subsystems and resolve technical challenges.
• Own and deliver mechanical design solutions for large mechanical systems and mechanisms.
• Perform and review FEA and hand-calcs for complex systems.
• Manage external design and fabrication partners through full project lifecycle, including fabrication, assembly, and testing & activation.
