Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead design efforts for large ground systems at our Cape Canaveral facility. You will own mechanical designs from concept through commissioning, perform FEA, and coordinate with external partners through fabrication and testing.

The role requires a strong background in large mechanical systems, GD&T knowledge, and the ability to work on complex aerospace tooling with a US security-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• 7+ years designing and analyzing large mechanical systems (GSE, aerospace tooling, etc).
• Experience leading designs from concept through commissioning.
• CAD and FEA tools experience.
• Knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with heavy duty mechanism design and load‑bearing joints.
• Experience with dynamic loading, vibration, and fatigue analysis.
• U.S. citizen or eligible for work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts for assigned subsystems and resolve technical challenges.
• Own mechanical design solutions for large systems and mechanisms.
• Perform and review FEA and hand calculations for complex systems.
• Manage external design and fabrication partners through full project lifecycle.
