Vanderweil Engineers in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Power & Utilities Group on a hybrid onsite basis. You will lead design for energy generation systems and mentor a team of engineers.

The role requires 10+ years in mechanical engineering, a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and ideally a PE license. You will collaborate across disciplines, manage scope, budgets, and schedules, and engage with clients and contractors.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering; 10+ years related experience.
• 8+ years in industrial/power or process consulting.
• PE license preferred; willing to pursue.
• Leadership experience in project engineering.
• Experience with BIM and design tools (AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, Revit, Bluebeam).

Responsibilities

• Lead design for energy and power projects from concept to completion.
• Oversee scope, budgets, and schedules with leadership and leads.
• Provide mechanical design leadership for complex projects.
• Engage with clients, PMs, contractors during execution.
• Travel up to 10% for meetings and site visits.
