Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the Power global practice. The role leads mechanical design project teams for new and existing power facilities, including gas, solar, hydro, hydrogen, energy storage, and other generation types.

You will guide design through procurement and construction, adapt plans to budgets, and collaborate with clients to deliver world-class results. Travel and multi-location work are expected.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related; FE exam optional.
• Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
• PE license strongly preferred.
• Experience with EPC projects preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanical design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE).
• Proficient with MS Office; 3D rendering tools helpful.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of projects from concept to design completion.
• Review supplier quotes and write procurement recommendations.
• Develop design documents, calculations, and datasheets.
• Review drawings and vendor submittals for conformance.
• Lead site visits, data collection, and commissioning support.
• Prepare technical reports for clients and publications.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide the engineering discipline.
