HDR, Inc. seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its national Power Generation team.

You will lead the mechanical engineering efforts for projects across utility, IPP, industrial, and institutional sectors, coordinating with other disciplines and supporting owner’s engineer roles. Ideal candidates hold a BS in Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years in fossil power with design and owner’s engineer experience, capable of managing multiple tasks, communicating effectively, mentoring others, and

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• 10+ years of experience, ideally in the fossil power industry with a blend of design and owner’s engineer projects.
• Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• Willing to mentor less experienced engineers and EITs.
• Proficient at working within an established schedule and budget.
• 15+ years’ experience in power generation design.
• Gas turbine, steam turbine and/or large reciprocating engine experience or subject matter expertise.
• Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation.
• Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm desired.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering team on projects and programs.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and monitor status.
• Provide mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects.
• Prepare construction drawings, bid specifications, sizing calculations, memos, and cost estimates.
• Lead design for power generation systems including simple and combined cycle plants.
