Job summary

SSOE Group seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design and execution on complex pharmaceutical and life sciences capital projects, including manufacturing expansions, cleanrooms, and utility systems. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve production capacity, regulatory compliance, operational reliability and speed‑to‑market.

You’ll provide technical leadership from concept through startup, support proposals, mentor junior staff, and travel about 25% to project sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• PE license or progress toward licensure strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in pharma/life sciences facility projects.
• Significant experience supporting FDA‑regulated and cGMP manufacturing environments.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, project management and team leadership skills.
• Experience leading projects from conceptual design through construction, commissioning and startup, with CAD familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering efforts for complex pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and advanced manufacturing facilities.
• Serve as Mechanical Engineering Lead on life sciences capital projects from modifications to expansions.
• Drive project execution through planning, design, procurement support, construction, commissioning, and startup.
• Develop engineering solutions for process utilities, facility systems, and clean utility infrastructure in GMP environments.
• Support sterile manufacturing, biologics, fill‑finish, and regulated labs operations.
• Perform feasibility studies for expansions and technology transfers.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and capital cost estimates.
• Collaborate with process, validation, quality and automation teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Interface with client engineering, operations, maintenance, quality and leadership teams.
• Provide technical leadership for clean utility systems and facility infrastructure improvements.
• Ensure designs comply with FDA, cGMP, and industry standards.
• Support proposal development and client presentations; mentor junior staff.
• Travel required approximately 25%.
