Job summary
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks a mechanical engineer to design and analyze components for spent fuel shipping containers, performing mechanical system design, hardware design, and finite element analysis within the M-290/M-140 Design and Analysis Unit.
You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, scientists, project managers, and shipyards to translate concepts into robust solutions that support naval propulsion programs and ensure safety and reliability.
Qualifications
- Bachelors with 4+ years of experience or Masters with 2+ years or Doctorate in a related field.
- Advanced Reactor Training/Refueling Engineer roles considered.
- Experience using CAD and FE analysis for equipment design.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical system and hardware design for spent fuel containers.
- Conduct finite element analysis to validate designs.
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, project managers, and shipyards.
