Job summary

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join the Submarine Core Design team. You will own analyses of complex components using ABAQUS and in-house codes, coordinating with stakeholders across disciplines to support naval propulsion and fleet reliability.

Ideal candidates have a degree in mechanical engineering (BS or higher) with 6+ years of relevant experience, or a higher degree with appropriate experience; U.S. citizenship is required for access to classified matters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical, engineering or science field with 6+ years of relevant experience; or Master's with 4 years; or Doctorate with 1 year.
• Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
• BS Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering; structural analysis experience; ABAQUS experience; ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams; experience with scripting languages.

Responsibilities

• Own analyses and coordinate with stakeholders across the organization.
• Perform structural evaluations of complex components using ABAQUS, in-house codes and hand calculations.
• Interface with other organizations and learn across disciplines such as materials science and thermal-hydraulic performance.
