Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks a mechanical engineer to design and analyze systems for spent fuel shipping containers, performing mechanical design, finite element analysis, and supporting a fleet of containers.

You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, scientists, project managers to deliver timely solutions that advance the Naval Reactors program, with design cycles spanning weeks to months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in a technical field with required experience of 4 years (or 2 years with a Master's) or a Doctorate.
• Advanced Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company is acceptable as equivalent.
• Strong design and analytical capabilities for mechanical systems and hardware.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical system and hardware design for spent fuel shipping containers.
• Conduct finite element analysis to validate designs.
• Support the fleet of spent fuel containers and collaborate with engineers, scientists, and project managers.
