Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory (FMP) seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the development, planning, and execution of radiological mechanical systems through their life cycle. You will research, design, verify, and develop mechanical and electromechanical equipment and fluid systems, pursuing safety, efficiency, and cost improvements.

Responsibilities include coordinating fabrication, installation, testing, operation, and maintenance activities, analyzing problems with data-driven methods,

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in a related technical/engineering/science field with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or a Master's with 4+ years; or a Doctorate with 1+ year; or currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
• Experience with ventilation, HVAC, compressed air systems, and pump design is preferred.
• Proven project management expertise and the ability to work independently are highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan, and execute radiological mechanical systems throughout their full life cycle.
• Research, design, verify, and develop mechanical/electromechanical equipment and fluid systems.
• Coordinate fabrication, installation, testing, operation, and maintenance activities.
• Analyze engineering problems using data-driven methods and apply applicable standards.
• Prepare or review technical documentation for system installation and operations.
