Job summary

Aecon Concessions in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Nuclear) to support nuclear power plant projects. You will develop design modification packages, perform hydraulic and HVAC sizing, and prepare P&IDs and GA drawings as part of a team of engineers and designers.

Candidates should have a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 5–10 years of relevant experience including nuclear exposure, and the ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear facility. US citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four‑year accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience (4 years nuclear) in the mechanical engineering field.
• The ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.

Responsibilities

• Develop design modification packages for mechanical systems at a nuclear power plant.
• Perform engineering calculations such as hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing, HVAC sizing, heat load analysis, and pressure loss calculations.
• Develop mechanical design and procurement specifications.
• Prepare engineering drawings such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), General Arrangement (GA), Equipment Plan, Piping Orthographic and Isometric drawings.
• Develop material and workhour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules.
• Exercise sound engineering judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues, review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design criteria.
• Interface with plant stakeholders to determine project scope/requirements, support construction/implementation and start up activities as required.
