Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Fort Worth/Dallas area seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design on a wide range of projects, from power to healthcare and infrastructure. You will guide project teams through design and construction, ensuring adherence to budgets, codes, and client needs.

You will mentor engineers, review vendor drawings, manage schedules and costs, and participate in sales efforts to win new business. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited) with 7 years experience; EPC project exp preferred.
• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology (ABET-accredited) with 7 years experience; EPC proj exp preferred.
• Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 6 years experience; EPC proj exp preferred.
• Expert knowledge of mechanical concepts, practices, codes and procedures; strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Prepare mechanical equipment specs, data sheets, RFQs, and bid summaries.
• Review vendor drawings and interface data with suppliers and other disciplines.
• Develop project schedule, scope, budget, staffing, and construction planning; manage change orders.
• Lead QA/QC reviews and ensure design integrity across CAD outputs.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead discipline design on large projects.
• Coordinate with field personnel for installation checks, calculations, and inspections.
• Prepare and present technical reports for clients and publications.
• Build client relationships and identify new business opportunities.
• Lead development of cost proposals and qualification statements; manage budgets.
