Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Fort Worth, TX seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design teams through concept, design, and construction for diverse facilities. You will prepare equipment specs, review vendor drawings, and manage schedules, budgets, and changes while ensuring QA/QC and safety standards.

You will mentor junior engineers, develop client relationships, and contribute to cost proposals and new business opportunities. Travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited mechanical engineering degree with EPC project experience (7+ years).
• FE exam completed with 7 years EPC experience; PE preferred.
• Master's degree in mechanical engineering with 6 years EPC project experience.
• Expert knowledge of mechanical design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience leading discipline design for large projects and delegating work.
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and teamwork.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from concept through design completion.
• Prepare equipment specs, RFQs, data sheets, and bid summaries.
• Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers and other disciplines.
• Develop project schedules, scope, budgets, and staffing plans.
• Manage change orders and QA/QC across drawings.
• Oversee field inspections and testing of mechanical systems.
• Build client relationships and pursue new business opportunities.
• Lead cost proposals and project budgets; report performance.
• Mentor less experienced engineers.
