Job summary

DLR Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Justice + Civic sector in Chicago. You will lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated building designs and manage complex projects from inception through construction.

The role emphasizes collaboration with architects and other engineers, along with responsibility for schedule, budget, and quality. A PE license and 15+ years of experience in justice facilities are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering; Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• 15+ years engineering experience including design of building systems for Justice + Civic.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering, smoke control, and secure facility design.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple projects and staff across regions, ensuring design criteria are understood and executed.
• Ensure quality of design, manage budget and schedule, and meet deliverables.
• Develop and maintain client relationships; participate in business development and RFP responses.
