Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team in Austin seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support industrial projects like Semiconductor Manufacturing and Data Centers. You will lead design efforts in mechanical systems, from load calculations to equipment selection and process exhaust, coordinating across disciplines.

You will mentor engineers, manage design schedules, and contribute to Basis of Design and technical reports, while partnering with clients to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in industrial design and construction with a current U.S. PE license.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as the primary engineering interface with multiple clients (PM or Engineering Lead).

Responsibilities

• Knowledge in scope definition, design schedule management, coordination with other disciplines, design document creation, and quality reviews.
• Coordination with department heads for resource allocation.
• Budget tracking throughout design.
• RFP scope definition and resource estimation.
• Perform engineering studies for highly technical clients, including load calculations and payback analysis.
• Technical writing for Basis of Design, Sequence of Operations, and audience-friendly narratives.
• Oversee load calculations, systems design, cross-discipline coordination, and signing/sealing of contract documents.
• Lead a team of Engineers and Designers on multiple projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in in-house continuing education.
