Job summary

TETER Architects and Engineers is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and coordination of complex HVAC and plumbing systems for building projects.

The role emphasizes engineering leadership, mentoring, QA/QC, and collaboration with architects, clients, and project teams. A minimum of 10+ years in mechanical engineering and CA P.E. licensure or eligibility within six months is required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years progressive mechanical engineering experience
• 3+ years leading large or complex building projects
• CA P.E. license or ability to obtain within six months
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Expertise in HVAC and plumbing and building codes
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; working knowledge of Revit/BIM
• Experience leading QA/QC reviews and mentoring engineers
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills

Responsibilities

• Lead design and coordination of complex HVAC and plumbing systems from concept through construction
• Serve as Engineer of Record and technical lead ensuring designs meet client goals, codes, and standards
• Guide project teams through engineering analyses, equipment selection, design documentation, and construction support
• Collaborate with project managers and department leadership to plan workload, staffing, and project execution
• Build relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams
• Mentor Mechanical Project Engineers, EITs, and drafters
• Lead QA/QC and contribute to firm standards and continuous improvement
• Support business development through proposals, interviews, and technical presentations
