Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design efforts for commercial HVAC products, focusing on fans, motors, and air-movement systems. You will guide design, testing, and validation across engineering teams to deliver high-performance, reliable solutions.

You will apply airflow, heat transfer, and thermal performance knowledge to shape concepts and optimize subsystems, while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
• 5+ years experience leading technical aspects of product design projects, validation testing, and root cause analysis.
• Demonstrated experience delivering and leading technical designs focusing on fans, motors, and air-movement systems.
• Demonstrated experience applying airflow, heat transfer, and thermal performance to support design decisions and optimize subsystem performance.

Responsibilities

• Support design, development, testing, and sustaining of unitary HVAC products focusing on fans, motors, and air-movement systems.
• Apply airflow, heat transfer, and thermal performance fundamentals to assess feasibility and optimize subsystem performance.
• Develop and execute laboratory test plans, analyze data, and support product validation.
• Use engineering tools and methods such as CFD and structured problem solving for design evaluation and continuous improvement.
• Work across design, test, and cross-functional teams while complying with standards and test requirements (UL, AHRI, ANSI, CSA, ASHRAE, DOE).
• Provide leadership to engineering teams including engineers, designers, lab technicians.
• Perform process improvement projects to boost team productivity.
