Job summary

Orbital Engineering, Inc. in Baton Rouge, LA seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to contribute to single and multi-discipline projects in a hybrid office/remote setting.

The ideal candidate has hands-on design experience in heavy industrial sectors and a track record in consulting environments. You will review client proposals, develop piping specifications, perform pipe stress and hydraulic analyses, prepare equipment scopes, and support procurement and construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 5–10 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong mechanical aptitude across various systems.
• Experience in Metals, Midstream Oil & Gas, Refineries & Petrochemical, and/or Utilities & Power Generation industries.

Responsibilities

• Review client requests for proposals and scopes of work; act as Orbital representative at bid walkdowns; prepare manhour estimates and proposals.
• Evaluate and develop piping specifications and equipment designs for heavy industrial applications.
• Perform engineering studies and calculations with focus on pipe stress analysis and hydraulic analysis.
• Prepare equipment specifications and scopes of work and provide procurement and construction support.
