Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking an experienced engineer to perform advanced engineering work and lead multidisciplinary projects. You will apply ABET-accredited curriculum knowledge to deliver safe, efficient, and economical solutions while coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders.

The role emphasizes technical depth, leadership, and strategic planning to address complex utility engineering challenges.

Qualifications

8+ years of related engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree in ABET-accredited engineering.
PE licensure in any U.S. state preferred unless waiver is approved by EVP.
Bachelor's in Engineering Technology acceptable if PE is obtained.

Responsibilities

Exhibits advanced technical expertise in specialized areas (e.g., system production, control systems, distribution standards).
Leads and coordinates work activities within the group and may act as project or function manager.
Develops and implements plans with scheduling, resources, and cost control for complex problems.
Identifies and resolves complex problems using multi-disciplinary analysis.
Leads in preparation and presentation of complex technical subjects to senior management and regulators.
