Job summary

American Electric Power in multiple locations is seeking an experienced engineer to perform intermediate level engineering activities focused on system performance analysis and stability studies. You will develop models, conduct studies, and provide technical guidance to planning, operations, and regulatory teams.

The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards, with opportunities to lead projects and training.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required or Master’s/PhD in engineering may be considered for entry at the SG7 level.
• Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s degree is preferred for this role.

Responsibilities

• Conduct system performance analysis and provide solutions for planning, operations, engineering, regulatory and financial needs.
• Perform electrical engineering studies related to power system stability, reliability, and compliance.
• Develop and maintain power system models and perform transient/voltage stability studies.
• Calculate electromagnetic interference for overhead and underground transmission lines and support system restoration.
