Job summary

AECOM seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer with federal experience to lead HVAC and plumbing design for DoD and mission-critical facilities. This role offers remote work for the right candidate and requires US citizenship.

You will perform Construction Administration, review shop drawings, RFIs and change orders, evaluate design alternatives, and mentor junior staff while coordinating with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver quality projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 6+ years in HVAC and Plumbing mechanical design or equivalent.
• U.S. citizenship required due to federal contract.
• PE license and 10+ years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist in design of HVAC and plumbing systems for DoD and mission critical facilities.
• Perform Construction Administration including review of shop drawings, RFI’s and review of contractor proposed change orders
• Evaluate feasibility of alternative design approaches in conjunction with senior team members
• Perform site/field visits to ascertain existing conditions including equipment condition evaluations
• Organize/plan projects to ensure quality controls and project criteria are met and within budget
• Assist in preparing proposals and presenting to Clients
• Assist with mentoring of junior staff within the Mechanical Department
• Review and edit specifications
• Interact and work with a diverse set of clients and subcontractors
