Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Data Center Mechanical Engineer Lead to drive the design and delivery of critical data center infrastructure in Arlington, VA with remote options. You will lead the mechanical team, coordinate HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing systems, and ensure projects meet budget and schedule while aligning with client goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10 years of relevant data center experience.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.

Responsibilities

Act as the primary lead for mechanical engineering on data center projects.
Coordinate with electrical and mechanical teams to deliver HVAC, fire protection and plumbing systems on schedule and within budget.
Develop detailed mechanical equipment specifications (pumps, fans, AHUs).
Provide technical support during construction and respond to RFIs.
Attend job site visits, project meetings and commissioning activities.
Ensure compliance with codes and industry standards; evaluate new technologies for better performance.
Analyze energy usage and identify optimization opportunities to reduce operating costs.
