Job summary

WSP in the United States is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Facilities Division, focusing on design for food & beverage, federal and industrial facilities. The role covers new construction, renovations, and optimization projects, with responsibilities spanning from data collection to construction oversight.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of HVAC, refrigeration and plumbing design experience, holds an engineering license, and can manage projects and teams while ensuring QA/QC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years in refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing and utility piping design.
• Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
• Strong knowledge of heating, chilled water, steam, compressed air, refrigeration, natural gas and high‑pressure water systems.
• Advanced proficiency in mechanical engineering principles, design processes and permitting.
• Experience in rehabilitation, reconstruction and new construction design and project management.

Responsibilities

• Collect data from site surveys, blueprints, schematics and drawings to support project development and construction.
• Apply advanced mechanical engineering techniques to improve building and infrastructure projects from concept to operation.
• Inspect site conditions and equipment, ensuring compliance with applicable rules and permits.
• Develop construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, safety and phasing plans and update layouts with stakeholders.
• Manage mechanical design and construction from inception to completion for various projects.
• Lead adoption of advanced technologies and design standards for proper installation and functioning of equipment.
