Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to join our Facilities Division in multiple U.S. locations, including Austin, Texas. The role focuses on HVAC, plumbing, and industrial facility design, with remote work possible for the right candidate.

You will lead complex design projects from inception through construction, mentor staff, and collaborate with diverse disciplines while ensuring compliance with codes and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, and utility piping design.
• Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
• Knowledge of mechanical systems and theory such as hydronics, steam, compressed air, refrigeration, natural gas, and high-pressure water.
• Highly proficient with mechanical design, building infrastructure, and permitting processes.
• Experience coordinating projects and ensuring compliance with code and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight by collecting, compiling, and analyzing site data for project development, design, and construction.
• Apply high-level mechanical engineering techniques to complex building and infrastructure work.
• Lead design and construction planning, budgeting, and coordination with owners and subcontractors.
• Mentor staff and drive professional development across project teams.
• Develop and verify technical reports, calculations, and design deliverables for permit review.
• Collaborate with multi-discipline teams on federal, state, and local projects and proposals.
