Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ seeks a Sr. Mechanical Engineer - ALE to lead mechanical sub-system design, development, and production sustainment for defense products.

You will own technical tasks, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with suppliers and internal teams in a fast-paced environment to deliver robust hardware solutions. Requires a university degree (or advanced degree) with 3–5+ years of relevant experience, strong GD&T, CREO, and Windchill skills, plus the ability to travel for program

Qualifications

• Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with minimum 3 years experience
• Experience in ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T and tolerance analysis
• Experience in CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software

Responsibilities

• Technical ownership and execution of tasks as prime technical contact for design, manufacture and production sustainment of mechanical subsystems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to analyze, model and document design data package (TDP) and requirements
• Mentor junior engineers within the mechanical discipline
• Lead small teams and collaborate across functions such as supply chain, operations, quality, systems, and electrical
• Perform mechanical design, development and documentation of components and sub-assemblies for defense systems
• Collaborate with Raytheon factories and suppliers on product integration and manufacturability improvements
• Perform tolerance analyses to ensure form, fit and function meet design intent
• Apply DFMA/Design for Producibility principles to improve designs
• Support production builds and first article inspections
• Review manufacturing process instructions and support MRB dispositions
• Conduct root cause investigations on hardware issues in production
