Job summary

RTX is seeking a senior mechanical engineer for Mission Systems support in Largo, FL. The role focuses on mechanical design, hardware development, and production support for DoD and government communications systems, with an emphasis on circuit card assemblies, electronics assemblies, and antennas.

The candidate will join an IPT with system, hardware, and software engineers, participate in trade studies, and mentor junior engineers. Active Secret clearance or higher is preferred; U.S.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and developing hardware, ranging from concept definition through detailed design and transition to production or product support.
• Demonstrated experience in mechanical design, product development, material selection, and manufacturing processes
• Experience with CAD design tools and associated product data management tools
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Responsibilities

• You will perform mechanical design, development, analysis and documentation of components and assemblies in accordance with system requirements
• You will provide support to production and suppliers during product integration Interface with the broader organization to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges
• You will work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals
• You will support and participate in reviews and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions
• You will apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in a fast paced, team environment
• You will mentor and guide less experienced engineers
