Job summary

Kelso Industries seeks a Lead Engineer to drive mechanical design for data centers, mission-critical facilities, and large industrial plants. You will transform owner requirements into reliable HVAC, process, and piping systems, guiding them from concept to issued-for-construction drawings and supporting field operations.

You will manage multidisciplinary scope, coordinate with contractors and partners, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery and adherence to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field; mechanical preferred.
• Minimum 8+ years of HVAC/R design experience, including data centers, mission-critical or large industrial facilities.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain one within 12 months.
• Hands-on experience with chilled water, hydronic and process piping design.
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE, International Codes, NFPA, and ASME piping codes.
• Ability to work to deadlines while juggling several projects and changing priorities.
• Self-motivated with strong time management and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for data center cooling systems (chilled water plants, CRAH/CRAC units, economizers).
• Design liquid cooling infrastructure for high-density AI workloads (CDUs, TCS, loops).
• Coordinate with controls partners on PLC logic and BMS sequences.
• Run client and design coordination meetings, respond to RFIs, track submittals and punch lists.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers.
• Lead design-build/ design-assist coordination with owners and contractors.
