Job summary

Strategic Mission Critical is seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer/Designer to execute mechanical design for mission critical projects, including greenfield and brownfield data center facilities, fit-out packages, and campus planning. The role entails collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and mentoring junior staff.

The position begins as remote with plans to transition to hybrid work, with offices anticipated in major metro areas.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering with a preferred mechanical focus.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in facility HVAC design, particularly using Autodesk Revit for drawing development.
• Experience in mechanical design for larger industrial and commercial buildings is preferred, with experience in mission critical design a plus.
• Experience working across the entire construction process, from schematic design through construction administration, including review of submittals and shop drawings, and field work such as existing condition surveys, site observations, and punch lists.
• Experience leading small mechanical design teams and having some client interface experience is preferred.
• Experience using construction management tools such as Procore and Autodesk Construction Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design on projects and coordinate with disciplines and clients.
• Produce detailed design documents using Revit.
• Perform airside and hydronic calculations for multiple systems.
• Develop hydronic and air flow diagrams for various system types.
• Select and specify HVAC equipment for projects.
• Meet project deadlines and work extended hours as needed.
• Interface with design leads across disciplines (electrical, plumbing, etc.).
• Travel approximately 10-20% to project sites.
