Job summary

SSOE is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Hillsboro, OR to lead mechanical design for cleanrooms, fab, and technology facilities from concept through startup. You will develop HVAC and mechanical systems, coordinate with clients, vendors, and cross-discipline teams, and mentor junior staff.

Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks; PE license or reciprocity; strong QA/QC and design change management; salary range $130k-$180k; hybrid work arrangement in the Pacific Northwest.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering degree required; licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure in practice state.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain by reciprocity within six months of hire.
• Mechanical design experience in semiconductor, cleanroom, fab, or advanced technology facilities.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit for mechanical design and BIM coordination.
• Experience interfacing with clients/contractors to define scope and lead technical discussions.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design efforts for cleanroom, fab, and advanced technology projects from early planning to startup.
• Develop and review HVAC/mechanical system designs including AHUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, exhaust, and wastewater equipment.
• Perform design calculations, sizing, pressure drop, load analyses, and system coordination.
• Prepare construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit; ensure consistency and compliance.
• Coordinate BIM and clash detection in Navisworks; resolve conflicts with MEP and other disciplines.
• Interface with clients, contractors, vendors to define scope and support decision-making.
• Lead design reviews and technical discussions translating operations and safety requirements.
• Review submittals, RFIs, changes, and field conditions to maintain design intent.
• Support site walks, punch lists, startup activities, and QA/QC on deliverables.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge-sharing across disciplines.
