Job summary

SSOE Group seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support advanced technology facility projects from concept to startup. You will develop mechanical designs for HVAC, exhaust, and process utilities, performing calculations and coordinating layouts with AutoCAD and Revit.

You will collaborate with PMs, discipline leads, clients, and contractors to resolve design challenges, ensure constructability, and meet safety and schedule goals throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Demonstrated expertise in HVAC systems design (AHU, VAV, chillers, boilers, wastewater).
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit for mechanical design.
• Experience with Navisworks and PIPE-FLO or similar hydraulic modeling software.
• Experience designing or coordinating mechanical systems for HVAC, exhaust, piping, and process utilities.
• Strong understanding of codes, constructability, and safety in complex facilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical engineering design for cleanroom, fab, and advanced technology facilities.
• Develop design calculations, equipment sizing, and system layouts for air handling units, VAVs, chillers, boilers, pumps, and wastewater systems.
• Perform detailed mechanical system calculations including load analysis and energy consumption.
• Prepare and coordinate drawings and models using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Support system analysis and hydraulic modeling to evaluate pressure drop and flow balance.
• Coordinate with architects, process engineers, and other teams to integrate mechanical systems.
• Participate in design reviews, QA/QC, and model coordination to identify clashes.
• Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and verify vendor data against design intent.
• Conduct site walks and field investigations to verify installation and support change management.
• Incorporate codes and safety protocols; emphasize constructability and maintainability.
• Contribute to project schedules and documentation accuracy.
