Job summary

SSOE is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design for cleanroom, fab, and advanced technology facilities. You will develop HVAC systems, lead BIM coordination, and mentor junior engineers to deliver code-compliant, constructible solutions.

The role uses AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks, works with cross-disciplinary teams, and involves interface with clients and vendors. Salary ranges reflect depth of experience and state-of-practice facilities, with a hybrid on-site work

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; ABET-accredited.
• Active Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain by reciprocity within six months.
• Experience in semiconductor/cleanroom/fab or advanced technology facilities.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit for mechanical design and BIM coordination.
• Ability to perform calculations, interpret criteria, and coordinate across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for cleanroom, fab, and advanced technology projects from planning to startup.
• Develop and review HVAC/ mechanical systems including AHUs, VAVs, chillers, exhaust, pumps, and Discharge equipment.
• Perform design calculations, sizing, load analyses, and system coordination.
• Prepare construction documents with AutoCAD/Revit; ensure consistency with requirements.
• Participate in BIM coordination and clash detection using Navisworks.
• Interface with clients, contractors, vendors; support decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead technical discussions during reviews and coordinate with multiple disciplines.
• Review submittals, RFIs, and field conditions; manage design changes and QA/QC.
• Support site walks, field observations, startup activities; verify installation quality.
• Mentor junior staff and support licensure-related stamping.
