Job summary

The Keystone Distinction Group in Boston seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design on large institutional projects and serve as technical lead for campus energy work. The role offers hybrid work with offices in Greater Boston, central New Hampshire, or southern Maine, and occasional travel.

You will design central plant systems, heating and cooling plants, air-side systems, and contribute to energy modeling, load calculations, and life-cycle cost analyses while coordinating

Qualifications

• Run mechanical design from feasibility studies through construction documents.
• Design heating and cooling plants and their distribution.
• Design air-side systems with energy recovery and precise control.
• Build and check load calculations and energy models; compare options on life-cycle cost.
• Write control sequences and set building automation strategy.
• Lead decarbonization and electrification studies for campus and institutional clients.
• Carry mechanical scope on LEED, Passive House, Living Building, or WELL projects.
• Review the work of engineers and designers and develop them.
• Coordinate with architects, owners, utilities, and contractors.
• Represent the mechanical discipline in client meetings and design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from feasibility through construction documents and administration.
• Design central plant, heating/cooling, and distribution systems.
• Develop air-side systems with energy recovery and precise temperature/humidity control.
• Prepare load calculations and whole-building energy models; assess life-cycle cost.
• Write control sequences and guide building automation strategies for projects.
• Drive decarbonization and electrification studies for campus clients.
• Oversee projects pursuing LEED, Passive House, Living Building, or WELL certifications.
• Review team work and mentor junior staff on projects.
• Coordinate with architects, owners, utilities, and contractors.
• Represent the mechanical discipline in client meetings and design reviews.
