Job summary

MDS Staffing is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm serving colleges, hospitals, labs, and data centers in New England. You will lead mechanical design on large projects, with a focus on central plant and campus energy work, and travel to client sites as needed.

Responsibilities include feasibility through construction, plant and distribution design, energy modeling, and decarbonization studies.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical engineering.
• 7+ years designing HVAC systems for institutional / commercial buildings.
• Experience leading project teams and coordinating across disciplines.
• Strong skills in whole-building energy modeling and load calculations.

Responsibilities

• Run mechanical design from feasibility through construction administration.
• Design heating, cooling plants and distribution (hot water, steam, chilled water, heat pumps).
• Design air-side systems, energy recovery, radiant systems, humidity-controlled spaces.
• Develop load calculations and energy models; compare options by life-cycle cost.
• Write control sequences and set building automation strategy.
• Lead decarbonization studies for campuses; pursue LEED/Passive House/Living Building.
• Represent mechanical discipline in client meetings and design reviews.
