Job summary

KLA Industries, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design on large projects, serving as technical lead for central plant and campus energy work.

The role is hybrid and can be based in Greater Boston, central New Hampshire, or southern Maine, with some travel to client sites. Key focus areas include central plant and hydronic systems, energy modeling, load calculations, and coordination with architects, owners, and contractors.

Qualifications

• Experience designing HVAC systems for institutional/commercial buildings.
• 7+ years of project-lead experience.
• Deep expertise in central plant and hydronic systems.
• Proficient in building energy modeling and load calculations.
• PE license preferred.
• Strong client presentation and cross-discipline coordination.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Run mechanical design from feasibility studies through construction documents and administration.
• Design heating and cooling plants and their distribution systems.
• Design air-side systems including energy recovery and humidity control.
• Build and check load calculations and energy models; compare options by life-cycle cost.
• Write control sequences and set building automation strategy.
• Lead decarbonization and electrification studies for campuses.
• Carry mechanical scope on projects pursuing LEED, Passive House, Living Building, or WELL.
• Review work of engineers; develop junior staff.
• Coordinate with architects, owners, utilities, and contractors.
• Represent the mechanical discipline in client meetings and design reviews.
