Job summary

Calqulate Metrics Ltd is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design on large projects and serve as technical lead for central plant and campus energy work. The role is hybrid and based in the Greater Boston area, with some travel to client sites.

You will design heating/cooling plants, air-side systems, and energy models, while leading project teams and coordinating with stakeholders to deliver sustainable, cost-effective building solutions.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical engineering is required.
• 7+ years of HVAC design experience for institutional/commercial buildings.
• Experience leading project teams.
• Proficiency in energy modeling and life-cycle cost analysis.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Run mechanical design from feasibility studies through construction administration.
• Design heating and cooling plants and distribution systems (hot water, steam, chilled water, heat pumps).
• Design air-side systems including air handling with energy recovery and tight comfort control.
• Build and check load calculations and energy models; compare options by life-cycle cost.
• Write control sequences and set building automation strategies for projects.
• Lead decarbonization and electrification studies for campuses and institutions.
• Carry the mechanical scope on LEED, Passive House, Living Building, or WELL projects.
• Review the work of engineers and designers; develop their skills.
• Coordinate with architects, owners, utilities, and contractors.
• Represent the mechanical discipline in client meetings and design reviews.
