Job summary

KingRecruitingServices is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm in New England. The role leads mechanical design on major projects including central plants and campus energy work, with hybrid work options in Greater Boston and nearby regions.

You will design heating, cooling, and HVAC systems, build energy models, and lead decarbonization studies, coordinating with architects, owners, utilities, and contractors; PE license preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical engineering required.
• 7+ years designing HVAC systems for institutional/commercial buildings.
• Experience leading project teams and coordinating across disciplines.
• PE license preferred.
• Strong ability to present to clients.

Responsibilities

• Run mechanical design from feasibility studies and utility master plans through construction documents and construction administration.
• Design heating and cooling plants and distribution: hot water, steam, chilled water, ground-source heat exchange, and water-source heat pump systems.
• Design air-side systems, including air handling with energy recovery, radiant heating and cooling, and precise humidity control.
• Build and check load calculations and energy models, comparing options by life-cycle cost.
• Write control sequences and set the building automation strategy for projects.
• Lead decarbonization and electrification studies for campus and institutional clients.
• Carry the mechanical scope on LEED, Passive House, Living Building, or WELL pursuits.
• Review work of engineers and designers; develop team members.
• Coordinate with architects, owners, utilities, and contractors.
• Represent the mechanical discipline in client meetings and design reviews.
