Job summary

Bowman in Houston is seeking a Designer V, Mechanical Oil & Gas to lead the mechanical design efforts within a multi-disciplinary team. The role involves frequent interaction with engineers, designers, and clients to deliver project scope with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities include CAD drafting, design reviews, project planning, BOM preparation, and scope management. The position emphasizes independent work, urgency, and commitment to quality while enabling growth within the company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or associate degree or equivalent preferred.
• Ten or more (10+) years of relevant experience.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and analytical skills – written and verbal.
• High level of personal integrity.
• Strong relationship capabilities.
• Proficient in both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Provide CAD drafting and prepare drawings and schematics derived from specifications, layouts, vendor data, and sketches.
• Coordinate with engineers or other designers to complete projects, ensuring adherence to established specifications and standards.
• Support equipment sizing, alternative analyses, and other deliverables.
• Support the engineering, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of facilities.
• Present design deliverables to project members, cross-functional teams, senior leadership, external vendors, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Plan, forecast, and actualize deliverable progress to support project reporting and schedule requirements.
• Identify scope changes and estimate impact to effort and schedule.
• Supports proposal efforts by evaluating RFP scope, identifying list of deliverables, and estimating effort required.
• Monitors progress and performance against the project plan.
• Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.
• Prepares, reviews, and approves mechanical equipment and piping BOMs and designs.
