Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced mechanical designer to develop 3D mechanical layouts and coordinate multidisciplinary design in our Nuclear Power Group. You will lead detailing activities and drive the completion of robust mechanical deliverables across project phases.

The role requires a strong background in 3D plant layout, piping systems, and collaboration with engineering teams. On-site work and mentoring junior staff are expected components.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in drafting or equivalent technical experience.
• Ten or more years of detailed physical design experience in the development of mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, and supports.
• Proficiency with design software tools in executing 3D plant layout models.
• Experience in the review of mechanical equipment, including outlines and interface points, and coordinating and developing the associated deliverables.
• Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical physical layout drawings in 3D.
• Lead mechanical design coordination across phases.
• Create general arrangements, piping isometrics, pipe supports, and equipment locations.
• Guide other designers and conduct field data gathering at client facilities.
• Mentor junior drafters and designers.
• There may be opportunities for field walkdowns at client facilities.
