Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to join our Mechanical Engineering team in Washington. You will work across the full design cycle with minimal oversight, owning product design, development strategy, and tactical planning, contributing to the design, development, and verification of mechanical and/or fluids systems.

You will independently drive engineering work, review drawings, and contribute to schedules, budgets, and milestones while applying advanced GD&T and 3D modeling

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or closely related field.
• 5+ years in mechanical engineering across hardware development lifecycle.
• Proficient in 3D CAD modeling and engineering drawings (CATIA/SolidWorks/NX).
• Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 or equivalent standards.
• Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action for hardware non-conformances.
• Ability to read and produce drawings meeting program and manufacturing needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the full engineering design cycle with deep technical depth.
• Own product design, development strategy, and tactical planning in cross‑functional teams.
• Create, review and maintain models, drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
• Provide input on schedules, budgets, milestones and technical approvals.
• Contribute to tool development, process improvements, and engineering documentation.
